Privacy Policy

Effective October 3, 2026

Unspent is a gift card wallet for iPhone made by Zmer Andranigian ("we"). We built it so that we never need to see your cards. There is no Unspent account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and we don't run a server that receives your data.

What stays on your iPhone

Card numbers, PINs and security codes are stored in your iPhone's Keychain, readable only on that device. Card photos and Vault photos (for example, of a credit card, driver's license or passport) are stored as files on your iPhone, excluded from iCloud sync and from device backups. None of this is ever sent to us.

What syncs through your iCloud

If you're signed in to iCloud, Unspent syncs your card list — store name, nickname, card type, currency, last four digits, dates, notes and balance history — between your own devices through Apple's private iCloud (CloudKit) database for your Apple Account. Apple stores it under Apple's privacy policy; we can't access it, and it isn't shared with anyone else. Card numbers, PINs, security codes and photos are never part of this sync.

Checking a balance on a store's website

"Check live balance" opens the store's own website inside Unspent, in a private browsing session that is cleared when you close it. Anything you type there goes to that store, under the store's privacy policy. Unspent reads the text the page displays, on your iPhone, only to find the current balance; it doesn't store or send the page. Only the balance you accept, and when you accepted it, is added to your card's history.

Camera, photos and notifications

The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to scan or attach a card or Vault photo. Text and barcodes are read on your iPhone; images are not uploaded. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone — Unspent doesn't use push notifications.

Purchases

Unspent Plus is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your payment details. Unspent checks with Apple whether you have Plus, including whether you're in a free trial.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete all data removes every card, its history, photos and Keychain entries, and the Vault. Deleting the app removes its local data; synced card details can be removed in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.

Children

Unspent isn't directed to children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone.
