Adding a card

Open the Add tab. Tap Scan a card to use the camera, or Scan from a photo, and check the details Unspent fills in. You can also type everything by hand. Scan the back too if the number or PIN is printed there.

Using a card at checkout

Open the card and tap Show at checkout. Unspent shows the barcode it scanned from your card, full screen at full brightness. If a store's scanner can't read your screen, show the card photo or read out the number.

Keeping the balance up to date

On a card, tap Record spending after a purchase, or Update remaining balance to type the exact amount. Check live balance opens the store's own balance page; once you've entered your card details there, Unspent can read the balance and save it when you tap Update.

Reminders

Unspent reminds you 3 days before a card expires, on the day it expires, and the day after a balance drops under $5. Allow notifications when asked, or turn them on in Settings → Notifications → Unspent.

Face ID and the Vault

Turn on Require Face ID in Settings to lock the app and card numbers. The Vault always asks for Face ID or your passcode.

Unspent Plus

The free version holds 1 gift card and 1 Vault item, with every feature. Unspent Plus removes both limits for $7.99 a year or $29.99 once. Archiving a used-up card frees your free card slot.

Free trial: the yearly plan starts with 1 week free for new subscribers. Nothing is charged during the trial. To cancel, open the iPhone Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → Unspent at least 24 hours before the trial ends. The same place cancels the yearly plan any time after that.

To restore a purchase on a new iPhone, go to Settings → Restore Purchases.

Moving to a new iPhone

Your card list and balances sync through iCloud. Card numbers, PINs and photos stay on the iPhone you added them on, so keep the physical cards until you've re-added those details on the new phone.
